Make Your Brain Your Bestie

Thursday 6th August (2.00pm - 3.00pm BST)

Age guide: 13+

FREE (part of the Free Wellbeing Workshops for Home Ed Teens summer sessions)

Mental health underpins everything in life. Teenagers are learning how to navigate the world and this can be a really hard time in our children's lives.

Luckily there is lots of research out there and lots of techniques we can use to create a nicer environment inside our own heads.

Things we might talk about include…

  • Brain & Body Basics - How our physical state affects our mental

  • Understanding Your Brain - Changes in adolescence

  • Cognitive Distortions - unhelpful thoughts that can become problematic

  • Socratic Questioning - a technique we can use to combat cognitive distortions

  • Intuition/ Core You - Identifying which thoughts and feelings are actually yours

  • Social Media Hacks - how to use social media in ways that support mental health rather than damage it

  • Boundaries - What is a boundary and how to apply them

  • Conditions Of Worth - Why we feel like we are only worthy of love if we do/are certain things

This is a young-person led session so I will aim to cover whatever feels most relevant to the those who attend.

The session will be facilitated by second-generation home educator, mother to a teen and qualified counsellor, Jay Byrd.

Optional: Bring along anything that has supported your mental health that you would like to recommend to others e.g. books, games, series etc

Ideal for ages 13+ years

Session delivered on zoom

This is a free session
